About me

I'm a Grade 10 student in Ontario who likes taking things apart, figuring out how they work, and building something new.

Why electrical engineering

The same thing that makes me love chess and competitive math — breaking a hard problem into pieces and finding the move that works — is what pulls me toward engineering. Electronics sit right at the intersection of math, physics, and building real things, and that's exactly where I want to spend my time. My goal is the University of Waterloo Electrical Engineering co-op program, where I can keep learning and put it to work on real projects.

What I'm working on

Right now I'm teaching myself the fundamentals — circuits and breadboarding, programming microcontrollers, and the basics of PCB design with KiCad — and documenting each build on my projects page and in my notes. I'm also looking to get involved in robotics and science fairs as I move through high school. You can follow what I'm currently focused on at Now.

Beyond engineering

I'm a nationally ranked competitive tennis player (and I've coached younger players), a sergeant in the Air Cadets, a runner, and a chess player at around 1900 Elo. Those aren't separate from engineering for me — competitive sport and cadets are where I learned discipline, how to keep going after a setback, and how to lead a team.
